Noomi

Designing a Cutting-Edge Cryptocurrency Wallet and Social Platform

Project Overview

Noomi is a revolutionary cryptocurrency wallet designed to provide secure storage, seamless currency transfers, and effortless communication for various digital currencies. What sets Noomi apart is its unique combination of cryptocurrency management and social platform features, making it an all-in-one solution for users.

As the lead designer for this project, my responsibilities encompassed shaping Noomi's visual identity, including the creation of their logo and the development of high-fidelity mobile mockups. Throughout the design process, my close collaboration with the client focused on ensuring that Noomi seamlessly accommodates both financial transactions and social interactions within its innovative framework.

Challenges

Noomi initially chose a dark color palette to appeal to its primary male audience. However, this posed a challenge because we needed to design with an eye on the future, considering potential expansion to a broader user base who might prefer lighter colors.

Furthermore, as Noomi aimed to be both a cryptocurrency wallet and a social platform, we had to plan for the MVP while keeping Phase 2 in mind. This meant creating designs that seamlessly transitioned between financial security and social engagement, ensuring a consistent and attractive user experience, whether in light or dark mode.

Work

Logo Design
Noomi's logo had to strike a balance between modernity, sleekness, and versatility, aligning with its long-term ambitions to expand into various platforms and industries. Initially, the client sought a logo symbolizing currency, security, and social networking. However, after multiple rounds of exploration, we decided to veer away from literal imagery such as locks, coins, or links, as they could impose limitations. Ultimately, we opted for a typographic logo, exuding a smooth, elegant, and technological vibe.

Mood Boards & Style Exploration
The client's vision was for a bold, innovative design that challenged the conventions of traditional financial applications. Considering that Noomi would encompass a wealth of numerical data and textual content, I delved into mood boards that leveraged contrasting elements, including large typography, vibrant colors, and bold shapes. These choices aimed to capture users' attention while retaining the flexibility to expand the application's color palette in the future.

To bring the mood boards to life and demonstrate how they would be applied within the actual application, I developed three distinct design styles for the client's consideration. In the initial version of the product, we leaned into a dark color palette, resonating with the predominantly male target audience.

UI Design
As the UI Designer for Noomi, I played a key role in a highly collaborative process. Working closely with the UX Designer and meeting the client in person regularly, we engaged in numerous brainstorming sessions and presentations. My primary task was to design multiple screens that seamlessly blended aesthetics with usability. Our work involved ongoing discussions and adjustments, ensuring that the user experience remained our top priority throughout the design process. This collaborative approach with the design team and client was essential in crafting an effective user interface for Noomi.

Outcome

The Noomi project yielded several deliverables, including a collection of development-ready screens for both MVP and Phase 2 of the product roadmap.

Additionally, a comprehensive style guide was crafted to maintain design consistency and ensure a cohesive visual identity across the entire product. In response to the client's diverse needs, multiple versions of the client's logo were created to accommodate various use cases, ensuring that the project's visual elements were versatile and adaptable. These outcomes collectively contribute to the successful launch and ongoing development of the Noomi application, setting it on a path to serve users effectively and evolve with the changing landscape of cryptocurrency and social interaction.
